The reason why the tech did not fix the furnace originally because I did not want to continue to pay him for his guessing game. I wanted to thank all the “amateurs” that took their time to provide me some guidance with this issue. Like I said, I’m not trying to sound anal here or be disrespectful, but I think all you “pros” spend too much time on these forums complaining about “why are you helping a DIY guy, have him call a pro”, and not providing any guidance or even basic elementary explanation on how this stuff works and what could be affecting the issue. And did not need to pay a hundred dollars to a “pro” to wire a control board. I cabled them per the new board instructions, and all is good. The primary/secondary wires were miss cabled. Looks like the issue was the 24V transformer. I just needed some suggestions as what other items I could test. I know how to use a multimeter and completely understand a furnace wiring diagram. The reason why I did not want to hire another “pro” was because I did not want to run into the same issue again and loose another $ for him to guess what the issue was. That basically told me how much of a “professional” he was. He ordered the board, and it still had the same issue. When he diagnosed the issue, he was sure it was not a grounding/polarity issue as he stated that “I verified both of those items, and it’s definitely your control board”. Not to be disrespectful but isn’t the whole idea of these forums to provide suggestions and advice on how one should approach an issue? I completely understand why you guys take this approach but can’t you just provide a suggestion and a disclaimer that this should only be done by a professional, and let the home owner make the decision if he/she is capable of doing the repair themselves. I don’t understand what the big deal is with all of you "professionals". Get a second techs opinion if you have to. If you reverse your polarity and get it wrong you will have a shock hazard not to mention what it it might do to your electronics. ![]() If your polarity was right in the first place it will still be. What could be the issue? I hear I can reverse the polarity with my hot and neutral wires that run into the furnace but I'm afraid of doing that.Īny help is appreciated.Don't mess with your wiring if you don't know what your doing. We replaced the board, and it's still doing the same thing. I had an HVAC tech come out and verify that I have no polarity or grounding issues, and told me it's the control board. Check that flame probe is not shorted to chassis." Both heating and cooling operations will beĪffected. "9 RED FLASHES: Indicates reversed line voltage polarity or When I start the furnace, the service light blinks 9 times, which refers to this in the control board manual: I connected everything per wiring diagram on my furnace panel, and ensured it matched the board wiring diagram. I just replaced my York 80 control board (went bad) with a new replacement board. ![]() If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact support.
